Consequences of the SIEMENS Scandal as of 2008

• The costs for the Siemens concern have been high: 500 million Euros alone for back-tax payments, a billion Euros for investigating and cleaning up the scandal.

• The American Securities and Exchange Commission forced the dismissal of a substantial number of Siemens top-managers.

• The reputation of former Siemens CEO Heinrich von Pierer as a model businessman has been permanently damaged.

• The confidence of the business world and the public in what was reputed to be a model company has been severely shaken.

• There are grounds for fear that the company's bad example will find imitators in the threshold and developing countries.
