• Enron was a worldwide leading energy concern with its seat in Houston, Texas.
 
• It emerged in 1985 through the fusion of two major gas providers.
 
• Within a short time, it grew into the largest gas provider in Britain and America.
 
• It was active in some 40 nations; in 2001 it had some 20,000 employees and a sales volume of some 140 billion US $.
 
Since 2002, Enron stands for the worst corruption and fraud scandal in the history of the US economy. In the wake of the scandal, the concern was restructured. Under the name Prisma Energy International Inc., parts of the firm are still economically active.
