National Socialism: Human rights are abrogated

In February 1933, a month after taking power, Hitler abrogated the fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution, by means of an emergency decree issued by Reich's President Hindenburg alleging serious threat to public safety.

In March of the same year Hitler proceeded “legally” to abolish rule by law and democracy by means of the Enabling Law of 1933.

This marked the beginning of the National Socialist terror regime: in the next 12 years until 1945 uncountable and unthinkably horrendous violations of human rights throughout occupied Europe were the order of the day.
