1991: A new world order – vision without a strategy

At the end of the First Golf War, US President George Bush Sr. called for “a new world order”, which he described as “a vision thing”, but he failed to concretize the vision with practical political ideas and strategies.

The expected process of democratization in the Near and Middle East failed to come about. The Israeli occupation of Palestine continued.

Has the opportunity to establish a new, peaceful world been missed for a third time?
