Missed opportunity: The Paris treaties (1919-20)

The Paris treaties prevent a new ordering
of the world

The “real-politicians” Georges Clémenceau (French Prime Minister) and Lloyd George (British Prime Minister) pushed through a “dictated peace”.

The defeated nations, Germany above all, must surrender extensive territories and pay heavy reparations.

The consequences of the Parisian dictated peace:
Reactionary movements, which scarcely twenty years later led to the Second World War:
• Fascism in Italy, Spain and Portugal;
• National Socialism in Germany;
• Militarism in Japan.
