YIN and YANG – The two polar forces



Yin
originally the shadow side of a mountain, is dark, feminine, passive, soft, receptive.

Its symbols are the moon, water, etc.

 

Yin and Yang give rise to the 5 elements (water, fire, wood, metal, earth), from which the whole universe takes its form.

Yang
originally the sunny side of a mountain, is bright, masculine, active, hard, creative.

Its symbols are the sun, fire, etc.
