• The name comes from Latin acus = needle and punctura = prick.
• The life-energy, chi, flows through the body along 14 distinct meridians. Illness is explained as a disruption of this energy-flow resulting in a disturbance of the Yin-Yang balance.
• There are 360 acupuncture points, where the energy-flow can be stimulated, thus influencing the organs and organic functions of the person.
• Acupuncture complements herbal medicine and other traditional forms of therapy.
• However, prior to acupuncture comes medication, prior to medication comes the right diet, prior to the right diet comes the treatment of the spirit.
