Years
of asceticism, fasting and self-denial gave no satisfactory answer to his quest.
Then in Uruvela, modern Bodh Gaya, while sitting
in meditation under a tree,
he finally received the long sought for enlightenment.
From then on, Siddharta would be called “Buddha”,
the “Awakened One”, or “Shakyamuni”, the “Sage
from the House of the Shakyas”.
