The first level of the yoga way – Elements of a basic ethos

Yoga
Liberation of the spirit from the cycle of rebirth through control of the body, the spirit and the breath.

Already in the 2nd Century BCE, Patanjali, the founder of yoga, taught the five virtues:

1. Non-Violence (a-himsa)
2. Truthfulness (satya)
3. Not stealing (a-steya)
4. Chastity (brahmacharya)
5. Lack of desire (a-parigraha)
