The classical Hindu gods

The exact number of Hindu gods is difficult to determine.

A broad spectrum of “high gods”, often accompanied by wives and sons, and a sheer incomprehensible multitude of tribal gods, semi-gods, divinized animals and plants, regionally diverse local divinities, sub-divinities, spirits and demons.

The two most prominent gods are Shiva and Vishnu.
